Mayuko Kawai, Food Stylist, Recipe Developer
Mayuko Kawai is a Tokyo-based food stylist and recipe developer. She works with stills and motion projects in advertising, packaging, editorial, cookbooks, TV, film, social media and events.
Since her childhood, she has been deeply interested in food, thanks to her grandfather, who was a Japanese Cuisine chef. At the same time, she was also fascinated by other countries, leading her to study English in high school and Chinese in university.
After graduation, she worked in the distribution industry and as a Chinese-Japanese translator, before moving to Shanghai, China. There, she started her career in the food industry, working in the launch of a restaurant (concept planning, menu development and employee training). Through this experience, she realized that, despite language and cultural barriers, people of diverse backgrounds can understand each other by sharing delicious meals.
She learned the basics of the food profession, at institutions such as the Tsuji Culinary Institute cooking school, and the Sukenari Yoko Cooking Art Seminar, a food coordinator training school established by Yoko Sukenari, a pioneer of the field in Japan, after which she started working independently.
Based on the concept of " Simply Tasty" Mayuko proposes a pleasant food experience.
